MAD attends “West Bund 2013: A Biennial of Architecture and Contemporary Art”

“West Bund 2013: A Biennial of Architecture and Contemporary Art” was opened on Oct 20, 2013. MAD was invited to attend the architecture section.

Four of MAD's projects – Hutong Bubble, Ordos Museum, Fake Hills, and Shanshui City Research – are exhibited in the biennial; they express three different aspects of MAD philosophy – city, culture, and habitation – and its imagination for the future city. MAD has been exploring the connection of eastern tradition and with the modern city, and trying to re-interpret tradition by developing a coping strategy for the density of future cities. After the exhibition, the model of the Hutong Bubble will be donated to the Architecture Museum of Tongji University for its Permanent Collection.

MAD also contributed to the Documents Show of this biennial, which exhibits Chinese architecture in different historical periods.
