The MAXXI Museum in Rome today opened “verso Est., Towards a Chinese Architectural Landscape” a comprehensive exhibition on contemporary Chinese architecture that reflects on China’s architectural landscapes from the past decade.

Curator Fang Zhenning selected several works from MAD, Ma Yansong’s early work “Fishtank”, the preservationist intervention of Hutong Bubble 32, the just completed Ordos Museum as well as the 385m tall Urban Forest, a tower that reincorporates nature into a high-density urban environment and evokes affection for nature now lost in modern global cities.

Verso Est. - Towards a Chinese Architectural Landscape can be visited from July 29 to October 23, 2011. MAXXI, National Museum of XXI Century Arts, by Guido Reni, 4A, Rome. www.fondazionemaxxi.it
