Invited by the Xiamen Construction Bureau and Xiamen Planning Commission, Ma Yansong attended the "the 7th Global Master Architects Forum" and delivered a keynote speech to over 800 audiences, sharing his practice and design philosophy.

During the speech, Ma elaborated more on several topics: oriental philosophy applying in architecture, urban planning, the next step for modernism, parametriization and art, accessible housing, etc. He also introduced again his design philosophy "Shanshui City", stated "architectures should have both functionality and spirit. However if to evaluate by history, a great architecture must be combined of both the characteristics of the time and the architect's emotions. Therefore, the connotation of spirit is of more value." Ma also gave Xiamen audiences the first look at MAD's first project under construction in Xiamen, the Xinhe Headquarters.
